If someone posts something overpriced.. why is it wrong to mention you can buy it new for XXXX. I am all for buyer beware, but i am also trying to lookout for my STR buds. You are keeping a newbie from making a mistake too...

tangent - I managed a board with 5000 users and classifieds. We tried the 'iron fist' and 'NO BS!' tactics, and basically the place turned into an MTBR of car sites. Lighten up and dont let that happen here...

(did the integradriv3r sunglass thread bring a chuckle to you? humor must be outlawed in the marketplace i guess. Thanks for nuking it. )

Anyway. SICK BIKE. Best of luck on the frame sale.

poor Marshall maybe we should discuss this in another forum...as all this is probably exactly what the Mods are trying to avoid.

Sorry to JACK this thread... I need to talk about the frame for (1) second.

*Anyone who knows Carla, knows she does not beat her bikes.
*Anyone who is familiar with that frame knows it was her least ridden...
*Anyone who is curious about Marshall (her boyfriend and mechanic):
    1) He is one of the most honest guys I know
    2) He puts more time into keeping his bikes in pristine condition than anyone I know (including Lee and Jason)
    3) He owns an Iron Horse Sunday (which makes him honest, smart, and... and .. trustworthy) Haha!
    4) If the price is right (ELVIA).... pull the trigger!

Good luck with the sale...

If someone did, it wasn't me.

I'm happy to have the thread continually bumped to the top, as long as the posts don't have a negative affect on my chances to sell the item I've posted. If you think something I've posted is too expensive, why not send me a PM with an offer of what you think is fair? If you've tried and hated a similar item, keep it to yourself. Just because it didn't work for you doesn't mean others will have the same experience. I didn't enjoy my Fox 36 Talas, but I don't post that opinion every time someone puts one up for sale.

Sorry to get preachy, but I've deleted two For Sale threads in the past because once the negative posts started (almost always from those not even interested in the item) I felt any chance of making a sale was gone. It bummed me out because I always try to be honest about the item and offer it at a fair price. I would much prefer to sell to fellow STR members than deal with the larger message boards.

I'd give you a juicy hint about what Carla will be riding next, that is, if she or I had any idea. She's in the process of demo'ing as many bikes as possible. Count on some most excellent bike porn once she decides. In the meantime, I will leave you with a photo of this sweet frame as it was built up:

oh I was not directing that comment towards you sir. I just assumed with the many personalities on this forum someone must have had issue with people making unrelated comments. So I hope you didn't feel I was hinting at the fact that you complained, because that was not the case at all. Honestly I don't care, I got chopped this morning and I really didn't care, said nothing of it. It wasn't until the name calling started did I feel like lines were crossed. But in the over all picture I'm just some shmuck that rides a bike in the dirt...at least being regulated by a mod means someone is actually reading my comments...:)

I am still trippin on this picture. I like how you pshopped the stand out of the photo. It makes the thing look really clean (not that the frame is not relly clean) but you know what I mean:clap:

Probably Benjamin Moore or Glidden to match the existing wall paint. Both of those brands blend very well.

Just to let everyone know, it's not sold. The frame is still available, and the price has been dropped. I could probably be coaxed into throwing in a Thomson seatpost if asked nicely.

At the risk of further derailing this thread, I thought I would give a little insight into the thought process on the posting guidelines for the Marketplace forum.

First off - None of the moderators on STR enjoy deleting posts. Any help in making our jobs easier is truly appreciated. We try not to be the Internet Police but STR will not become the out-of-control mess of a few other sites due to lack of consistent moderation.

George can make the Marketplace forum different from the rest by not allowing any replies to Marketplace ads and requiring the use of pm's. He could charge a small fee for the ads. There are many different ways to prevent ad's from being polluted with irrelevant dialogue. Most of those options would detract from the openness of the site in my opinion.

While most sellers would appreciate a free bump, most do not care for posts that do not help them sell their goods.

Honestly, no one really cares if you would buy it in another size, if you only had the money, if you throw in your two cents about what a great deal it is, etc.

The intent was not for this post to come across as some mandate from above. I personally don't believe the posting guidelines are overly restrictive. If you feel differently, please pm lbmtb. I'm sure if enough people feel differently he'll take a look at modifying the guidelines.
