SOLD!!! Honda Element 2006 Ex-P

I've heard large frame mountain bikes will fit into an Element without removing the front wheel, can anyone confirm that?

 

There's no way that I could fit my large framed bike (Stumpy FSR) with the front wheel still on in my Element.

It's both too tall and too long.

 

I'm 5'11", but most of my bikes are mediums. I can fit two of my bikes in an Element without removing the front wheels. I then just bungie cord them to the side. I may lower the seats, though, but I don't remember.

 

I can fit this in my wife's Element with the front wheel on.

What are you doing wrong?

p.s. that saddle is over 4' off the ground

My brother-in-law and I fit our two Stumpjumpers (a red 04 Large and a yellow 02 Medium) into his Element with both wheels on with no problem. All we had to do was lower the seatpost on the Large a little.

 

You'll be wishing you never sold this car once junior is big enough to start kicking the ever-living crap outta the back of your driver seat. But I totally see where you're coming from. Good luck on the sale. I'm willing to trade you straight across for my '99 Corolla. ONLY 178,000 miles, but it's definitely got the kid proximity you're looking for.

 

Oh that back seat kickin, my son does it on purpose. I know he does! I am gonna get him back by making him ride Joplin on training wheels.:lol:

 

The way I choose to load my bikes in the Element has the rear wheel against the front seat and if the front wheel was still on it would hang past the end of the rear deck.

Not really sure that I'm doing anything wrong ... I realize that it's technical difficulty for some to take the front wheel off of a bike. :?:

For me, not that big of a deal.

Willie and I both have the black E's (yeay for us)....this is by far one of the best cars I've owned, and I traded in a fully loaded Tahoe for it. Gas milage...storage...sunroof, AWD....and 5 star crash ratings!! It's made in the USA and not an import as was previously mentioned....and has the K24 acura engine, so it's not a civic motor.

I'd personally say the only downfall is that it will ding easily...so you have to be careful. Also don't get a wild hair and think you can wash out the inside...all the electrical is under the floor covering. If you surf or cycle...the E rocks.

You won't regret owning this car...

 

I've been thinking hard about selling my Acura RSX-S and getting an Element. I wish the MPG was a bit higher though, but you can't beat the utility of it!

 

With fuel price on the rise I have been thining about losing the Towrag and rolling this way as well.,..:bang:

 

Yes, for sure. I have a 2005 Enduro and a friend of mine has a KHS FS with a Noleen fork, and a 2006 Heckler. We can fit any two of these three inside the his Element without removing the wheels. It is easier if you remove the seats but it's just a little bit of persuasion if they are swung to the sides.

All of the frames above are Large.

You could easily get all three inside by taking off the wheel of one.

 

86k on our Element.

We're averaging 23mpg with our AWD with 60/40 hwy/city.

To get the bike to fit with a wheel on:

Loading from the back, I put the bike front wheel first and have the wheel stick in between the two front seats. Or you can have the wheel turned 90 deg.

Even easier is to load the bike from the side as the roofline is higher on the side doors and easier to get bikes in. This is a good way to do it if you're putting 2 bikes in the car.

I really dig my E. Put 60K in 2 years. Yeah, the gas could be better as I drive the 5-speed version and tend to gas it too much. I didn't like the stock tires and went with some lower profile wider tires and the car really handles a ton better after that. That killed a little MPG too but totally worth it. Note: getting a custom carpet for the back is kinda of nice too. Cuts the road noise, and vacuuming that is easier than vacuuming the plastic floor.

Element is sold! Or at least will be this week. She Devil hooked me up (thanks!) with a friend of hers that is going to buy it and drive it across the border into Canada, I guess they are crazy expensive up there so the price I was asking was a good deal for him. Thanks for all the help, I'll be bummed to see this one go. I tend to become attached to my cars.
