Not to rain on all this Ti love, but I was sorry to see the "old" (2010) scandium version (w/carbon chain stays) of the Selma go bye-bye. I have it, and I plan on riding this bike into the sunset. As an added bonus, the gray/blue color combo with graphics is the sexiest bike I've ever owned. Oh, it rides pretty welll too.
If Dean asks you to ride with him beware - he flies like a 4 year old on his new bike. It gives me great Joy to watch him play! On a mountain bike we are all four year olds but Dean is a fast four year old. Go Steppie Go!
I have always been a better Single Speed rider than a geared rider, it comes down to my inherent laziness. When I first started MTBing, I only rode a geared bike for about a half year before switching to single speed, then spent two years on SS only....mostly riding in Prescott, Flagstaff and Sedona. On a SS you learn to rest while you are pedaling sitting down and that lead to some bad geared bike habits...in my mind no need to stand and pedal when you can sit. This years plan is to SS 2/3 of the time and to not lazy out and grab the geared bikes.
I rode this bike at the Salsa demo at the Path last week and loved it. I am in the process of building a new 29er and have already purchased the Canfield Yeti Scream but after riding that Salsa I really want to look into converting over to the ti salsa. Awesome bike
