Couldn't have said it any better

I'm actually reluctant to ride my squishy geared bike because I don't want to lose any strength gained from the SS. The Blur is now my last resort/recovery/cruise with the non-SS riders, bike.

Four rides was enough to convince you to 86 the rigid fork. Too bad. That is a nice looking setup.

Thanks. I think it's time to switch it back at least for now--I've been looking for excuses to not ride it because the ride is so unpleasant.

I don't want to sell it though. I might use it again someday.

I spent to long riding just my SS and lost strengh sitting and spinning. I now try to ballance the two. Seem to be more on the geared lately because of where I have been riding.

El Path...they have a grip of them...although i cant guarantee that now w/ this sudden interest in SS'ing :)

I rode SCST today on my squish. I made a pact w/ myself that if i ride the squish then i will do my best to ride my SS gearing that way i keep my strength up...i didnt do too bad on the fireroad climb out of the valley just had to stop once to catch my breathe :) but dam it's truly rewarding to get out of that saddle and pound down especially on that fun singletrack

If you are getting winded climbing away from MILF park, then I don't see moving from 32x21 as being a good idea, yet.

When you can clean Cholla, Mathis, and Dripping Cave, then think about changing gears. But, I like choosing gears so I can ride everything, not hike it.

Father, my first day was brutal. I went again on Monday and did soooo much better this time cruising up canyon vista and only ducking in the top street is a big deal for me so it's only going to get better from there. No worries i wasnt going to change cogs tomorrow ;) I agree, if i can clean cholla that would be HOT...I still have trouble clearing Mathis geared!

Can someone please explain to me why when I ride my Epiphany now in the exact gearing that i ride my SS the squishy seems a bit more lively or more like i'm faster on it? :?: I dont know, it's weird, and i do know for a fact that riding the SS has helped me in the strength department because when i ride the squish now (in the same gearing no down shifting or upshifts :)) i feel so much stronger/sharper

Any ideas? Is it because my epi is lighter?

You are getting stronger and riding with a more aggressive style. You will find yourself attacking hills where you might have just dropped to the granny before.

    Good Job mang:bang:

that part i've been noticing...like before going up a climb i'll drop gears and spin up...now i get my ass out of the saddle and power up.

Maybe it's psychological but on the SS it seems harder than on the squish? LOL

I noticed that I had to lock out my squishy at the Rwanda 50. It's hard to break the SS habit sometimes if you haven't ridden the squishy in a while. Give em' both the attention they deserve!!!

Foo, no sure if you have done it but when I leave Canyon Vista or come off the top (Cholla) back to the streets, I prefer the Hopseed uphill (less cars, longer climb, not "as" steep). It has also been a good workout for when the trails are closed to roll down, climb back up, roll down repeat...

My new Zion SS (thanks to you) already has a top tube dent in it! Not sure where it came from... Took the kids to Dripping Cave yesterday and today (from the Alicia entrance). My Intense is mad at me...
