I know why you went down.... Go-Pro. It makes us go a bit faster and push a bit harder when it's attached and filming. Looked like you hit the ground hard. Hope you heal up fast.
Holy F*ck is right!! I hate loose dirt w a passion - your crash proves why!! Here's to a speedy recovery...
Wow, that hurts just watching it! Yeah, that section is really loose right now and seems like its getting worse all the time. I took a spill in the same spot about a month ago when it surprised me with how loose it was. Fortunately for me I was still getting my confidence back from a hard crash so I was taking it slow and just kind of fell over, no harm done. Heal up quick! And be careful in these loose summer conditions, everyone.
Wow. There is no avoiding that. Try practicing tuck and roll. My experience, putting out your arm to brace a fall, only sets you up for a full on face plant. Get well soon.
I am really living by this right now... trails are so dry, beat up and loose sandy already...it going to be a long and loose summer...be careful folks...(myself included)
Healing vibes to you, and very glad it wasn't worse. Looks like you were fortunate to have narrowly missed several rocks that could have made things a lot worse. Great to see that there were some good samaratins out there to help as well - big props to those guys! Hope you heal well and quickly.
Here's to your quick and complete recovery, G. Take it slow and give your bean ample recovery time. Trails will be there when you're ready :bang:
Damn that was crazy.... definitely the wrong tires for that kind if dirt. Soon as you landed on the soft stuff it was over. that happened to me a few months back minus the faceplant, but it rung me pretty good. Bought some Fat Alberts..... problem was solved.
Any suggestions for 29 inch tires? I have a Hans Dampf 2.35 on the front but have washed out both of the last 2 times I've ridden 5 Oaks. The HD has been amazing up until then, totally confidence inspiring, but now I find myself wanting to skip 5 Oaks or the sandy steep stuff and waiting for a good rain. Maybe I should just buy a Krampus...
Ouch is right. I felt myself grabbing some brake while watching the video long before you even crashed. Too fast for me. Makes me think i should wear a FF even though i only descend about 3mph. Heal quick. Glad you got home safe. Thank you for the trailside assist to those riders who got you out.
Unfortunatly you have a 29er and most Schwalbe tires that are good for socal dirt don't have the long lugs needed...the Hans Dampf is a great tire but its a med lug tire, great for the rear but You need either Fat Alberts, Wicked Wills or Big Bettys which are all 26er....Now you have a bigger foot print on the 29er but if your lugs don't reach thru that soft stuff and grab the hard dirt any tire will slide out. But that being said try either the Rocket Rons or the Racing Ralphs or Dirty Dans....front with a Hans Dampf or Racing Ralph rear that should get you good grip and keep your rolling fast as well.
