Hey everybody, as a fun weekend project I'm looking to buy a beach cruiser to slap an engine into. I'd like it to look kinda like a WW2 era Harley with that sweeping raked out style. So if anybody has one to off load, I'm interested, keeping in mind my budget isn't enormous.
-Here's kind of an example of what I have in mind

I did that to an old Specialized a few months ago. Stupid amounts of fun. Easily goes 20+ up steep grades. 30-35 on the flats.

I have a motor. I have been meaning to do the same thing but have been too busy. It has been in the garage for over a year. PM if interested.

Super fun! I blasted about 6 miles out onto the Black Rock Desert playa on a pretty similar gas-powered setup last year (Burning Man) at about 40mph, clutching a bottle of absinthe. My own Fear and Loathing. It was epic. Be sure to post up some pics if you get it built.

It's a 2 stroke. There's nothing to really go wrong. The only problem I have is I need to get some nylon lock nuts to double nut my sprocket on. It vibrates to all hell and loosens the sprocket.

Also, if you are looking for a motor, search for Jet 80CC on ebay. I offered 120 shipped and they took it. Awesome deal.

Also, my crank arm kept hitting my exhaust, so I had to take a hammer to it.

Is ok to just run a tube instead of a muffler?

2 strokes rely on an expansion chamber to make power. i would run what it came with. try port matching the flanges.

If your budget isn't enormous then I would shy away from this bike as your starting point....

I picked up my complete bike for $130 delivered

Turned it into this for cheap...

Not sure if there is enough room for the motor on my frame though....would be very tight

Also, keep in mind on these motors, the mount is built into the block. It is a PITA to make your own mounting brackets. On frames with large tubing, they recommend drilling through the frame. I laughed. On old mtn bikes, the tubing they used for the frames is perfect for the motor mounts.

Exactly. My wife has a nice aluminum frame cruiser I wanted to use for my project. The larger diameter tubing is just big enough that the motor won't sit right without customization. I can show you my motor anytime to help with ideas.
