I really like the angle view of side helmet mounted gopro but to get the best of it you need to use a full face helmet to get a stable shot.
I tried mounting it on my regular helmet either on top or on the side using the helmet strap but the footage end up bouncy. Not to mention the helmet getting out of place.

Here's a way to get that side angle shot with the use of regular helmet and some gopro accessories.

    but before anything else.

    From Gopro website:
Head Strap Mount - NOT RECOMMENDED for high-impact sports. Only recommended for non-impact activities.

    Let's get in on!

    you'll need:

    - Gopro head strap mount

    - 4 Thumb knobs

    3 Pivot arm assembly
*the first small one has the same angle compared to the remaining two.

Here's a few steps to build this

    - discard the upper head strap and the back plate of the Head strap mount

    - connect the pivot arm assembly in this order
(this is for right angle view)

    - connect it to the helmet strap mount.

    Done!

    Here's how wear this contraption.
-you need to position the mounting plate on the temple area of your head

*take note of the orientation of the head strap plate

Here's what it looks with the hemet on

The stability of this rig is achieved by tucking in the head strap plate under the helmet/helmet strap.

    That's pretty much it. :)

    Notes:
    - You may want to add more padding under the head strap plate for comfort.
    - Move the strap adjuster piece behind your head
    - It's a little bit tricky to wear the helmet on and taking it off.
    - Make sure to change the camera orientation setting.
    - you can't wear glasses or shades with this set up.

Feel free to comment and share ideas for this Project.

cool, but that looks like it'll hurt if you wreck on a ride.

Going down is not an option. lol! Consider this set up for XC type of riding. Beyond it, ride with it at your own risk.

I tried this same thing a while back (but kept the upper strap and back plate on). Didn't like the way it felt and it was still a bit shaky. Instead of a full face helmet, I used a skate/bmx helmet, which has been great! Much more comfortable and of course breathes better than a full face....not to mention if you fall, you won't take a GoPro to the dome #-o

Camera can also be mounted upside-down like in your footage.
