Hi all, here is a brand new tour and race for spring of 2014. www.tourdelospadres.com

Tour De Los Padres is a 300 mile bikepacking tour and race with over 30,000' of elevation gain that traverses through some of the most scenic areas of the Southern Los Padres National forest between Frazier Park and Santa Barbara, California. Elevations along the route range from sea level to 8,300 feet.

Tour De Los Padres is similar to the Coconino Loop, Arizona Trail 300, or the Stagecoach 400. However, there is both a "tour" and a "race" component to this ride. All we provide to you is a route description, GPS files, and helpful logistical information.

This expedition is a true test of physical and mental endurance. The risks are plenty but so are the rewards. You will ride forested singletrack, see ancient Chumash paintings, soak in natural hot springs, view hills of wildflowers, and get to camp in some of the most remote backcountry California has to offer.

Serious effort by the planner to assemble these point to point routes as Los Padres is mostly taken up by large Wilderness areas. One small suggestion, Carrizon Plain is even more amazing accessing it via Elkhorn road (my buddy James and I used to do this two day wildflowers bike packing trip with our Bob trailers. We would go in via Soda Lake rd and loop back via Elkhorn Road). Water at Shelby camp is radioactive and not potable. We'd to carry all the water we need for the trip.

Elkhorn Road is part of the 2015 route. Great suggestion.
