So a few buddies (reignin stink, mtbkiwi and mcmtb) came up to visit my getaway on the central coast and after riding some of my old trails around SLO we decided to do some Santa Barbara riding on the way back Sunday morningish. Up Romero Canyon Road to the East Camino Cielo ridge road and then down Cold Springs Canyon. The pictures don't do the views justice and the downhill was amazing. One of the best all mountain rides out there that I have ridden. On to the pics.

Straight down in Montecito and Santa Barbara, there is some prime real estate down there. I'm pretty sure I could have thrown a rock into Oprah's backyard.

Looking south towards Ventura, it was so clear we could see down to Catalina way off in the distance.

Bike Yoga, it's a new thing I recommend it

This one is called the thinker, it's pretty straightforward. I have the pose down, the next step is the thinking.

The view from the top of Cold Springs Canyon Trail.

A very small teaser of some of the tech gnar that awaits you on long sections of downhill. There were so many baby heads out there it was like we were rollin through nurseries.

It feels good to earn the down sometimes.

Yeah I would build a trail here too, way to go trail building person. EPIC

All in all close to 20 mile loop that included amazing views, solid climbing (something like 3000-3500 when all is said and done), techy downhills and only one OTB from me. I gotta make sure I earn that Yardsale name of mine, I've recorded it with the headcam. I think it's about time we started a thread of only head cam crashes because they are hilarious. I'll work on it, stay tuned.

I've done this one 2x in the past few months and it has become one of my favorites.

Up Romero to camino del cielo is a butt kicker, but the downhill on CS is well worth the effort.

Wearing a bell helps avoid head-ons and keep the hikers happy too.

The helmet was on my pack for the way up. It was pretty toasty in the sun with not much shade and you gotta let that mane breathe . And the one fish eye pic was from my helmet cam hence the lack of helmet there. I'm a big supporter of helmets even though I have a built in airbag.

Yeah next time, we left the big bikes at home for this trip. I've done tunnel before but this was my first time going down CS, I was super pleased with it. Awesome trail, but quite a few hikers towards the bottom.

The Romero Canyon Road/Trail starts towards the very end of Romero Canyon road. It will come to a T at bella vista I think and then you turn right and the trail is right around the corner.

Yeah I need to pick up my own personal bell, all the bell boxes we came across were empty.

I'm going to Cold Springs tomorrow (Saturday) for an all-day Mountain UNICYCLE adventure! I'll be solo, so no shuttle for me...climb/ride up (6 miles each way?) and then DH on one wheel!

If anyone will also be there, maybe I could have you take a moment to use my camcorder to track some footage? Can't wait!

last time I was there I rode Saddle rock trail. 100% all rock trail and probably the most technically crazy trail there is in SB. :)
