    Hi there,
I'm also from Mission Viejo and a beginner/intermediate rider looking to get out more often. What trails do you usually ride?

Whiting Ranch is probably the best place to ride in Orange County if you are beginner/intermediate and want a real mtb experience. Aliso and Wood Canyon offers many trails, but almost all of them are steeper and more technical than most true beginners or even intermediates would find enjoyable. Great place to "step up" your game after getting comfortable on Whiting trails such as Borrego, Cactus, Sleepy Hollow, Serrano Cow Trail and Live Oak.

Santiago Oaks is somewhere between Whiting and Aliso in terms of challenge.

By the way, you will not get much response here at STR. Lots of "older" guys are posting on a more active So Cal mtb forum here including about 30 people who used to post on STR.

FWIW, I still have my SoCal Trail Riders sticker on my roof rack.
