Got my first REAL full suspension MTB today. For some reason I just keep buying bikes at REI. My first MTB was a Novara...then I got my dad's hand me down IBIS which they used to sell exclusively @ REI. Then I got this POS 2000 Specialized Expedition off of CL...what a mistake that was.

Did a lot of hunting around...all the usual suspects here in OC...was hoping to find a deal on a leftover 2017 or even a 2016 but I quickly learned it's slim pickins out there. Then I remembered about an email I got a couple of years ago from REI talking about GHOST bikes. German engineered bike, some are made in China but 70% of their bikes are made in Germany. And of course they use standard components like Shimano SRAM etc.

    Anyhow...got this today: https://www.ghost-bikes.com/en/bikes/fully/bike/kato-fs-5-al/

Look forward to seeing some of you out on the trails. How will I know if you are an STR forum member?

Congrats on the new bike! Ghost bikes have grown in popularity over the years. I've always liked how they look and price wise they are less pricey than the others. It will be hard to ID an STR member in the wild Lol!

Hey thanks Trailninja! I'm liking it very much. I'm changing the stem angle to 17 percent and may even get some riser bars...I like to be a little more upright. After that I think this puppy will be pretty sorted...I suppose soon enough I'll want a dropper seat setup but I gotta stop the bleeding for now. This was sort of a big splurge. Got some new gear as well...shorts, helmet, stuff for under seat bag etc. Pretty stoked on it all. Tomorrow I start riding to work...that should kickstart my return to full MTB fitness!

Speaking of reasonably priced bikes...my dad got a FELT brand bike a couple of years ago...apparently they are outta Irvine.
