Kind of late for me since I already put a MRP mini me on my 4x bike. Without a front derailer It seems like I could easily eject the chain off the front chainring. I noticed that it looks like some of the geared black market bikes dont run a chain guide. Is theyre a secret I'm missing on running gears in the back without a chainguide in the front. The mrp mini me looks sweet but It is a little added weight,

I strongly suggest running a chain guide system. Some of the people who don't run them are probably mostly riding street. There are a lot of good guides out there, so I can't say which I think is best because I haven't used many of them. I'm using an E13 LG1.

Lately, I'm really in to the new MRP G2. I'm pretty sure it's the lightest guide out that encloses the chain up top, and has a roller down low. The G2 is also relatively inexpensive.

The LG-1 is lighter till you add the taco. The G2 comes with a taco like thing installed.

There is no need for a taco or a bash guard in 4X.

    Good point.

If it is strict 4x, maybe spend the extra $ and get the E13 LG-1. It's a sick guide.
